How We Review & Rate Casinos

The standards and process behind every rating and ranking on SENSOR.

SENSOR is an independent gambling-media platform. We do not operate casinos and we do not take bets. Our job is to help players find operators that are licensed for their country, treat customers fairly, and are worth their time, and to be transparent about exactly how we reach those conclusions. This page documents the standards behind every review, rating, and ranking on the site.

Our review principles

Three principles govern everything we publish. First, licensing is non-negotiable: we only surface operators that hold a valid licence from the regulator of the player's market. Second, evidence over opinion: our rankings are driven by measurable signals, not by who pays the most. Third, harm reduction: every page that mentions gambling carries clear 18+ and responsible-gambling information, because the product we cover carries real risk.

Licensing comes first

Before an operator can appear anywhere on SENSOR for a given country, we check that it holds a current licence from that country's regulator, such as the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) in Britain, the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) in Spain, Spelinspektionen in Sweden, the Gemeinsame Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL) in Germany. Licences are verified against the regulators' own public registers and recorded with the licence reference and the date we checked. An operator that is not licensed for a market is not shown to players in that market, even if it would be more profitable to show it. Where we have no licensed operator to recommend for a market, we show none.

What we assess

Once an operator clears the licensing check, we evaluate it across the areas that matter to players:

  • Safety & fairness: licence standing, KYC and payout track record, game fairness and testing.
  • Banking: deposit and withdrawal methods, withdrawal speed, limits, and currency support for the market.
  • Game library: breadth and quality of titles and the studios behind them.
  • Bonuses & terms: the real value of an offer after wagering requirements, not the headline number.
  • Player experience: mobile performance, usability, and the quality of customer support.
  • Responsible-gambling tools: deposit limits, time-outs, self-exclusion, and links to national support.

How our rankings are built

SENSOR was built as a data platform. Beyond editorial assessment, our rankings draw on real, anonymised player-engagement signals across the catalogue, such as which content players actually watch, return to, and rate, processed through our recommendation engine. This means a ranking reflects observed behaviour, not just a reviewer's preference, and it refreshes as that behaviour changes. Editorial judgement and the licensing gate always sit on top of the data: no data signal can promote an unlicensed or non-compliant operator.

Editorial independence

SENSOR earns commission when a player signs up with some of the operators we list. We are open about this, because it is how a free, independent review platform sustains itself. It does not buy a better rating. Commercial terms never override the licensing gate or the assessment criteria above, and we remove or downgrade operators that stop meeting our standards regardless of the commercial relationship. Any page that carries a commercial link also carries a clear affiliate disclosure.

Responsible gambling standards

Gambling can be harmful. Every SENSOR page that features an operator or offer shows an 18+ notice, an affiliate disclosure, and links to the responsible-gambling resources for the player's country, such as the national helpline and the statutory self-exclusion scheme (GAMSTOP in the UK, Spelpaus in Sweden, OASIS in Germany, and their equivalents elsewhere). We never present gambling as a way to make money, and we do not target anyone under the legal age.

Keeping reviews current

Licences lapse, terms change, and operators rise and fall. We re-check licence standing against the public registers on a recurring basis and update reviews and rankings when the facts change. Each review shows when it was last reviewed so you know how current it is. If you spot something out of date, tell us via our contact page.
